Description: The Senior Storage Engineer is one of the key members responsible for the engineering / health / upkeep of the storage infrastructure for a dedicated client at Blackboard including; Netapp storage, disk staging, Oracle backup, Snapshot and Snapmirror technology.

Responsibilities:

· Proactively maintain health of 24x7 storage environment of the dedicated client.
· Act as Incident Commander for any storage events on the dedicated storage
· On call and off hour shift rotation requirement
· 24/7 availability required unless approved prior
· Incident management troubleshooting and repair within shortest timeframe possible with minimal risk
· Hardware addition and replacement including new filer builds and handoff
· Firmware and OnTap upgrade execution
· Implement and audit backup polices, both new and current, to ensure critical data is available
· Ensure recovery of client data meets or exceeds Blackboard defined SLA’s
· Assist DBA’s with daily backup operations including; RMAN, dumps, NDMP, Snaps
· Assist with offsite data replication snapmirror scheduling and operation
· Short term data growth rate calculations
· Assist with implementation of automated controls around storage validation

Skills:
§ 5 years Netapp NFS experience a must within a large fast paced enterprise
§ Mid to expert Unix qualifications
§ Scripting knowledge
§ Expert level Netapp HW and SW troubleshooting with FAS 3000/3100/3200 series filers and DS4243 shelves
§ Oracle Database knowledge including: RMAN, Oracle Snaps, dumps
§ Familiarity with Fiber based networks as well as NAS / DAS / ISCSI
§ Experience with Netapp suites including Operations Manager
§ Team player with strong attention to detail
§ Process oriented with strong organization and project management skills
§ Demonstrated experience working with a broad range of issues simultaneously and following them through to completion
§ Ability to identify, prioritize and escalate issues as needed
§ Bachelors Degree or related experience

§ Industry standards certification including: DRII / ITIL / other
